petrol

Petrol, also known as gasoline, is a liquid hydrocarbon fuel that is used primarily in internal combustion engines. It is a mixture of various hydrocarbons, primarily composed of octane and other light hydrocarbons. Petrol is used to power vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, and small boats.

Petrol is refined from crude oil, which is pumped from the ground. The crude oil is then transported to a refinery, where it is separated into various fractions through a process called distillation. The lightest fraction, which is composed mostly of hydrocarbons with five or six carbon atoms, is used to make petrol.

Petrol can be blended with other fuels such as ethanol or methanol to create blended fuels, which can improve the octane rating of the fuel or reduce emissions.

In India, the prices of Petrol varies state to state and is determined by the state government and is based on the international crude oil prices, state taxes and other charges. The prices are revised every day.

It's worth noting that Petrol is a non-renewable resource, and the burning of petrol releases harmful emissions into the atmosphere, which contributes to air pollution and climate change. Therefore, there is an increasing focus on the use of alternative fuels such as electric and hybrid vehicles, hydrogen fuel cells, and biofuels to reduce the reliance on petrol.
