sun
The sun is a star located at the center of the Solar System. It is primarily composed of hydrogen and helium and is classified as a G-type main-sequence star. The sun is by far the largest object in the Solar System, making up over 99% of the total mass of the Solar System. The sun is also the Earth's primary source of energy, providing light and heat through the process of nuclear fusion. The sun's energy is responsible for driving the Earth's climate and weather patterns. It also sustains all life on Earth through photosynthesis in plants. The sun is located about 25,000 light-years from the center of the Milky Way galaxy and is currently in the middle of its main-sequence phase, during which it is burning hydrogen to produce helium. It is expected to continue to shine for another 5 billion years before expanding into a red giant and ultimately collapsing into a white dwarf.
