Vijay (born Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar on 22 June 1974), better known by his stage name Thalapathy Vijay, is an Indian actor, playback singer, and philanthropist who works in Tamil cinema. He is one of the highest-paid actors in Tamil cinema and has been called one of the "biggest" and "most popular" movie stars in Tamil Nadu.

 Vijay made his acting debut in 1984 as a child actor in the film Vetri. His first lead role came in 1992 with the film Naalaya Theera.

He has since appeared in over 60 films and his work has been recognized with several awards, including four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, a Santosham Best Actor Award and a Vijay Award for Favourite Hero. He is known for his roles in films such as Ghilli, Pokkiri, Kaththi, Mersal, and Master. He is also known for his philanthropic work, including through the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam and the Vijay Foundation.
